- Capacity Building: Funds services that help build your skills and independence, such as therapy or educational support.
- Capital Supports: Includes funding for assistive technology, equipment, and modifications to your home or vehicle. The amount and allocation of funding are determined during your planning meeting, based on your goals and the supports needed to achieve them.
Yes, there are several options for managing your NDIS funding:
- Self-Managed: You directly manage and pay for your services and then claim reimbursement from the NDIS.
- Plan-Managed: A plan manager is funded in your plan to pay providers on your behalf.
- NDIA-Managed: The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) manages your funding, and you choose from registered providers.
- Combination: You can also choose a combination of these options to suit your needs and preferences.
Preparing for your NDIS planning meeting is crucial for ensuring you get the most appropriate support. Here’s what you can do:
- Document Your Needs: Keep a record of your daily activities, where you need help, and how your disability affects you.
- Identify Your Goals: Think about your short and long-term goals. This could include anything from improving your mobility, increasing your community participation, or gaining employment.
- Collect Reports and Assessments: Gather any medical reports, assessments, or letters from your healthcare providers that detail your disability and how it impacts your life.
If you're not satisfied with your NDIS plan or services, you can request a plan review to discuss any changes or adjustments needed. Additionally, you have the freedom to change service providers at any time if they're not meeting your expectations.
NDIS plans are typically reviewed every 12 months. However, if there are significant changes in your circumstances or needs, you can request an early review. This regular review process ensures that your plan remains aligned with your needs and goals.
A plan review is a meeting with your NDIS planner or Local Area Coordinator to discuss the progress of your plan, any changes in your needs, and to set goals for the next plan period.
